Top tips for presentation preparation
Here is a useful structure to follow based around learning styles and the 4MAT® system so that people with all different styles will get what they need from your talk.
| A short introduction – no more than 2 sentences. | |
| At least 3 reasons which answer the question from the audience “why would I want to listen to this talk?” This gives the audience reasons why they want to engage fully and listen to your talk. (Hint: if you can’t think of any, then change the talk!) | |
|
The content: often the meat of the talk. This covers the facts and information. It’s the answer to the audience’s question “what is this all about?” |
|
| Usability & relevance: this section covers the answer to “how will the audience use this in their day to day life?” This demonstrates the relevance to the audience in the here and now. | |
| Future relevance: this is a short answer to the audience's question “what will the difference be in the future, if I take this advice, or buy what they are suggesting?” This will demonstrate how what you have said will be of use to them in the future. |
