Practice, practice, practice!

As Marketing Director for the Association for Neuro Linguistic Programming I was recently asked to take part in a panel for internal interviews. It was an excellent day, and each candidate came up with something innovative and creative. I know how nerve-racking interviews can be! I think we have all had them at some stage in our lives.

Grabbing Opportunity! Speaking at The Business Club...

I'm delighted to say that I have jumped in last minute to speak at The Business Club event in Harpenden tomorrow evening! I think it's always great to have a selection of topics to offer the organiser even if you are asked at the last minute.

Tips for Interviews and Presentations!

Top Tips to help you SHINE!

Always read the brief carefully before beginning – like reading an exam paper properly. Make sure you know how long you have to present and if it includes time for questions. Check any terminology and consider what equipment or props you may need.  Consider what their purpose is for setting this task and what they are looking for.

Stand up comedy – laughter helps to overcome challenges!

I just got back in touch with my comedy tutor Logan Murray and asked him to write a forward to my new book. He’s off in the States at the moment so will do it shortly - but it reminded me of when I first started stand up comedy in 2008. I started wondering to myself if learning ‘how to make other’s laugh’ would help me and those around me sail the choppy seas ahead more smoothly. I had only just started my own training business at the time, so it was a welcome way of getting away from the desk too.

Presenting to the FAB ladies!

I am very excited to be a speaker at the FAB ladies Spring Open Event on Thursday 22nd March from 9.30am. It is being held in Wheathampstead and I’ll be talking about those pesky Public Speaking Monkeys! I hope you will find it a good opportunity to hear a few effective ways of how to tame them and also how to start the journey of overcoming your fear. Plus, I will be making sure those mischievous Public Speaking Monkeys don't make an appearance – I bet they will head straight for the refreshments!

Public Speaker or Presenter's Checklist - things to take on the day

I'm often out and about Hertfordshire one day, and Dorest the next doing presentation skills training, public speaking coaching or giving talks.

I aim to have almost everything I'll ever need in one of those "wheelie" bags - ready to give the next presentation because if I had to pack everything I needed every time, that would take me a lot of time and effort. Here is my list of things I take with me or consider every time I train or give a presentation.

Have you made any New Year’s Resolutions?
